Oregon Trail of Dreams Sled Dog Rides

Linking humans and animals in the spirit of love and cooperation since 1993

Welcome to Oregon Trail of Dreams

Oregon Trail of Dreams sled dog kennel started with a passionate love for dogs in the Badlands of Central Oregon in the late 1970s. On one chance afternoon an enthusiastic young collegiate pole vaulter by the name of Jerry Scdoris was left “wide eyed and awestruck” when passed by a dog team on the local trails. The dream was born. Jerry dedicated the next decade of his life to learning about and raising the incredible Alaskan Huskies that power the best dog teams in the world. By the early '90s he was ready to make his dream come true. Accompanied by his young daughter Rachael and a few close friends, Jerry and his dogs started operating tours at the base of Mt. Bachelor ski resort in 1993.

About Us:

Fast forward 30 years and the dogs have flourished. Rachael and her dogs competed in the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race four times along with many other local and international races. We continue to offer a variety of dog sled tours and compete in as many regional races as we can manage each winter. Dog sledding has become our lifestyle, and we would love to share our incredibly sweet dogs with you and your loved ones!

Our Tours

Experience the thrill of sled dog adventures through Oregon’s wild trails.

Mt. Bachelor Tour

Join us at the Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort for a one hour tour and introduction to the adventure of dog sledding. Your tour will begin by meeting each fun-loving (and really cute!) canine athlete on your 8 dog team. Following a quick tutorial of the sled itself, the dogs will power you along down our 5 mile trail that winds through the forests near the base of the mountain. This tour is suitable for dog-lovers age 3 to 103.

Half-Day Marathon Trip

A truly inspiring ~26 mile “marathon”. On this trip you’ll be joining a 12-dog race team as we head out into the Cascade Lakes region and down to Elk Lake Lodge. Once the team delivers us safely to the lodge we’ll stop to feed the dogs before heading inside for hot chocolate and a lovely lunch. This half-day trip usually takes around 4 hours and is suitable for winter lovers who enjoy an escape from the typical hustle and bustle.

We will happily cater to school groups, large private groups, corporate groups and parties. Over the years we have gained a lot of experience customizing our tours to the demands of many different groups. Please call for pricing and details!

  • Weekly training updates.

  • A well-trained, healthy and enthusiastic race-ready dog team.

  • Dog truck, all necessary equipment, and a handler for each race.

Fees do not cover race entry, transportation, or lodging. Fees are not refundable. Race success is not guaranteed, but adventure is! Call for more details.
